CABIN

The aim of this project is to create a relaxing place where people can escape too, from their daily urban environment, away from social media, away from work and other obligations, for a short period of time. The program required space for basic needs (sleeping, cooking and washing), but also an area to read a book, to relax and drink a glass of wine. Additionally, the accommodation has to have enough storage for outdoor, sporting equipment, inorder for the residents to be able to fully enjoy their environment.

This cabin is situated between the panoramic views of Åre, Sweden, which is a diverse area where you can mountain bike during the summer months and go skiing in the winter.
The interior consists out of three levels:
The "wet room" is located on the ground floor where residents can store there sports equipment and take a shower after a long day outside. The first floor, where the kitchen and seating area are located, can be accessed through the centrally placed staircase. Here visitors can relax while reading a book, after preparing a meal and pop open a bottle of wine. The second floor can be reached from the seating area by using a ladder that is integrated in the bookshelf. On this level you'll find the bedroom with some extra storage space beneath the bed.

The central unit located on ground level is a multi-purpose furniture that divides the wet room in different areas: on the right side it can be used as storage for sports equipment, on the left side it has room for towels, toiletries and an extended bathroom sink next to the shower. The frontside of the unit can be used as a closet and is the access point to the integrated staircase that brings you to the first floor.
